Ford School’s Rosenthal Lecture: Juan Cole reflects on Sept. 11, fight against al-Qaeda

EVENT: Juan Cole, professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History at the University of Michigan, will give the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy’s 2006-07 Josh Rosenthal Education Fund Lecture. His talk is titled ” Are we winning the fight against al-Qaeda? Reflections five years later. “

Cole has written extensively about modern Islamic movements in Egypt, the Persian Gulf, and South Asia. Since the 2002 launch of his Web log, ” Informed Comment: Thoughts on the Middle East, History, and Religion,” he has become a prominent media commentator and has published political writings in The Guardian, the San Jose Mercury News, Salon.com, the San Francisco Chronicle, and The Nation.
