Designed as both a showcase and a collaborative working space, the summit will focus on practical insights and shared learning on the real questions universities are facing today regarding artificial intelligence in the classroom and learning spaces.
Programming will include lightning talks, panel discussions, and facilitated engagement sessions addressing topics such as responsible AI adoption in education, university-industry partnerships, lifelong learning at scale, and the evolving role of higher education in preparing students for the future of work.
“Artificial intelligence is already reshaping how people learn, work, and create, but higher education still has important questions to answer about how to use these tools responsibly and at scale,” said James DeVaney, associate vice provost for academic innovation and founding executive director of the Center for Academic Innovation.
“Designing the campus of the future in service of life-changing education requires more than new technologies. It demands collaboration and a commitment to moving beyond experimentation toward thoughtful, sustainable innovation.”
The summit will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rogel Ballroom at the Michigan Union. The free event is part of the university’s Life-Changing Education theme year and Campus of the Future event series, which highlights initiatives advancing innovation and impact across higher education.
Student-centered perspectives will be a key component of the event, with learners sharing how they are navigating AI-enabled tools and how these technologies are shaping their academic experiences, decision-making, and future aspirations.
In addition to other leaders from across the education and technology landscape, confirmed speakers include:
- Anant Agarwal, chief academic officer of 2U and edX.
- Valerie Singer, general manager of global education at Amazon Web Services.
