Gov. John Engler has appointed U-M President Mary Sue Coleman to the state Life Sciences Corridor Board and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Corporate Board.
The life sciences board advises on and oversees initiatives, including the development of criteria for awarding contracts and grants to universities, institutions and individuals.
The MEDC Corporate Board authorizes and approves the annual audit of the MEDC. The board also evaluates the performance of the corporation.
Coleman replaces B. Joseph White, the former interim president of U-M, on the two boards. She represents universities and community colleges on the MEDC Corporate Board, and she represents U-M on the life sciences board.
