Diane Kaplan Vinokur , associate professor of social work, has been named vice president of membership for the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA). ARNOVA is an international, interdisciplinary membership organization.

Awards

Joseph Grengs , assistant professor of urban planning, won the Barclay Gibbs Jones Award for Best Dissertation in Planning—considered the highest award for an urban and regional planning dissertation. The award, announced at the ACSP/AESOP joint conference in Leuven, Belgium in July, was named for a professor of city and regional planning at Cornell University for more than three decades.

Kenneth Warner , the Avedis Donabedian Distinguished University Professor of Public Health and director of the U-M Tobacco Research Network, received a 2003 Luther L. Terry Award for Exemplary Leadership in Tobacco Control. The award, which commemorates the work of Terry—the former U.S. Surgeon General responsible for the first Surgeon General’s report on smoking—honored Warner in the category of Outstanding Research Contribution.
