George Bornstein, the CA Patrides Professor of Literature in LSA, has been named chair of the Christian Gauss Award Committee of Phi Beta Kappa. The prize is given annually for the most distinguished book of literary criticism and scholarship.
Bunyan Bryant, an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor and professor of natural resources and environment, received honorable mention for the national Ernest A. Lynton Award for Faculty Professional Service and Academic Outreach. The honorable mention recognizes Bryant’s career commitment to environmental justice.
Cindy Zimmerman, regional outreach coordinator at the Alumni Association, received the association’s 2003 Spirit Award, given annually to an Alumni Association staff member who exhibits exemplary enthusiasm toward his/her job responsibilities and personal life.

Ovide Pomerleau, professor of psychology and director of the Behavioral Medicine Program at the U-M Health System, won the 2004 Ove Ferno Award for Clinical Research for innovative research on nicotine and tobacco.
