Uninsured event
President Mary Sue Coleman and Catherine McLaughlin—director of the Economic Research Initiative on the Uninsured and professor of health management and policy—will participate in the discussion “Covering the Uninsured” at noon April 16 at the West Lecture Hall, Medical Science Building II. Symposium caps Brown research
Undergraduate and graduate student research in the Brown v. Board of Education theme semester will be presented in a multimedia symposium 3-5 p.m. April 15 in the ballroom on the first floor, Haven Hall.
A reception will be at 4 p.m. and feature remarks by Terrence McDonald, dean of LSA, and Lester Monts, senior vice provost for academic affairs. Two short documentaries, “Michigan 1954” and “Fulfilling the Promise,” will be screened during the reception.
The symposium is sponsored by LSA, Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and the Brown v. Board of Education Commemoration committee.

Forum has ’20/20′ vision
ABC News journalist John Stossel will kick off U-M-Flint’s Frances Wilson Thompson Critical Issues Forum April 14 in the Northbank Center, 432 N. Saginaw in Flint.
Stossel, who has been a reporter for the newsmagazine “20/20” since 1981, will speak about “Freedom and Its Enemies” at 12:30 p.m. A luncheon begins at noon; reservations and tickets are required. Students among cast of ‘Die Fledermaus’
John Gillas, visiting voice professor in the School of Music, will direct the comic opera “Die Fledermaus” 8 p.m. April 15-17 and 3 p.m. April 18 at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater in the Michigan League.
The production, sponsored by the Comic Opera Guild-University Chapter, will include a mix of local actors and School of Music students.
“It should be a very enjoyable evening. I love ‘Fledermaus.’ It is very bubbly, enjoyable, has great music, and is fun,” Gillas says.
“It will be sung in English, and for those not certain if they would like opera it is one of the most accessible of all operettas—it is light-hearted and just like champagne.”

‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ ends School of Music’s main stage season
The Musical Theatre Department will close out the School of Music’s main stage season with four performances of the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
The musical, by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will play the Power Center for the Performing Arts 8 p.m. April 15-17 and 2 p.m. April 18.
