Several large trees are being removed from campus this month due to damage from insects or construction traffic. The U-M grounds crew has tried many treatments to mitigate the impact of the emerald ash borer, but several trees along Fletcher Street, in the South University area, and on the Medical Campus are beyond recovery. Additionally, despite aggressive efforts during recent renovations to protect the elm trees surrounding Hill Auditorium, four of the large trees have died and will be removed.
