U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia will give the DeRoy Lecture at Rackham Auditorium at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 16. The lecture is free and open to the public.

President Ronald Reagan nominated Scalia to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1986. Previously, he served on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and as assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel.

A well-known conservative jurist, he also has served as a professor of law at the University of Virginia and the University of Chicago, a scholar in residence at the American Enterprise Institute, and a visiting professor of law at Georgetown University and Stanford University.

The lecture is at Rackham Auditorium. It is sponsored by the DeRoy Fellowship Program, which was established to bring distinguished lawyers and public figures to the Law School to support its educational mission. The Detroit-based DeRoy Testamentary Foundation funds the program.
