Photos: ‘Halloween Howl’ at SNRE

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes
Poison ivy, red maples and even an emerald ash borer lumbered into the Dana Building Oct. 28 to take their midterm exams in the Woody Plants class, taught by Burton V. Barnes (above), Stephen H. Spurr Professor of Forestry and Arthur F. Thurnau Professor in the School of Natural Resources and Environment. Barnes dubbed the occasion the “Halloween Howl” and invited students and graduate student assistants to arrive in costume. Below, Lauren Hoffman and Molly McCullagh chat with Evan Thomas (“I’m just a tree”) before the start of the test. (Photos by Martin Vloet, U-M Photo Services)
