Public service and teaching were themes of the day as faculty, staff and students on the University’s three campuses celebrated the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Jan. 16. From top: Renee Moton, human resources consultant at U-M-Dearborn, and a group of volunteers spent four hours sorting and repacking food items for distribution at Gleaners Food Bank in Taylor. The group, among 370 volunteers from U-M-Dearborn, the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and Henry Ford Community College, visited 15 sites around metropolitan Detroit and packaged nearly 14,000 pounds of food.
