Wolverine Access, CTools enhancements benefit faculty, students
Managing class lists and viewing instructor schedules will be easier for faculty and students after recent improvements were made to CTools and Wolverine Access.
Specifically, instructors and students will find it easier to work within and between the systems after staff at the Duderstadt Center and Michigan Administrative Information Services worked together during the past few months to make several enhancements.
New features and functionality have been implemented so instructors no longer need to open two browsers if they want to work in both systems.
A tab for Teaching Support has been added to their personal CTools workspace home page, and support pages in Wolverine Access provide a similar link to CTools.
Instructors can view their weekly schedules from either Teaching Support or CTools, and the schedule function links directly to each class with a site in CTools.
There, instructors can view their schedules in either a calendar or a table format from the Teaching Support tab.
Students also will find new functionality in Wolverine Access as they can access CTools sites directly from their class schedules.
If a class has a CTools site, an icon appears next to the class in the schedule. One click on the icon will take them directly to the class site in CTools.
Other recent changes include improvements in Teaching Support to make class rosters more customizable and comprehensive. Instructors can determine which student data elements should be displayed by choosing from a list that includes the student’s name, UMID, uniqname, academic level, academic programs, academic plans, student group memberships and more.
Class section information also can be customized to display a selected section, all class sections within the course, or all class sections the instructor is teaching. Instructors can view a roster of all students in a combined section class, such as cross-listed classes, instead of having separate rosters for each section.
