Volunteer Erika McCollum, a sophomore in LSA, writes a message on a T-shirt as part of Survivor Expressions at the Sexual Assault Prevention Awareness Center. Student volunteers gathered Jan. 15 in conjunction with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day activities to make T-shirts expressing the stories of sexual violence survivors for the Clothesline Project, a traveling display that SAPAC takes to events related to sexual assault, stalking, partner violence and sexual harassment. SAPAC officials say incidents of sexual violence or assault may present special challenges for women of color, and that the center is striving to achieve wider recognition of those challenges.
