Elected

Joel Blum, John D MacArthur Professor, professor of geological sciences, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, LSA, has been elected as a 2010 Geochemical Fellow by the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry. Just 0.1 percent of the joint GS and EAG membership is elected each year.

Awards

Chuck Olson, professor emeritus, School of Natural Resources and Environment, has been recognized for his contributions to the field of photogrammetry and remote sensing with one of the highest honors in his field: honorary membership in the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. At any given time, only 25 scientists can be honorary members of the ASPRS.

Veera Sundararaghavan, assistant professor of aerospace engineering, recently received a National Science Foundation Career Award for his project that computationally investigates low-cost routes to develop magnetostrictive alloys for energy harvesting and sensing applications.
