The University of Michigan will launch its annual United Way employee giving campaign Oct. 2, with a goal of raising $1 million to support critical services across the region.

Now in its 60th year, the campaign continues U-M’s long-standing partnership with the United Way for southeastern Michigan, helping ensure access to essential resources such as food, health care, education, and child care for individuals and families in Washtenaw County and beyond.

“Each year, this campaign reminds us of the incredible impact we can have when we come together as a university community,” said President Domenico Grasso. “Our partnership with United Way extends vital resources to thousands of families across southeastern Michigan, and the generosity and engagement of U-M faculty and staff continue to be the driving force behind this meaningful work.”

This year’s campaign is co-chaired by Chris Kolb, vice president for government relations, and Tony Denton, senior vice president and chief environmental, social and governance officer at Michigan Medicine. Both are encouraging faculty and staff not only to pledge, but also to consider becoming actively involved as campaign representatives within their units.

“Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of this effort by sharing campaign information, answering questions, and inspiring participation,” Denton said. “Serving as a representative is also a chance to strengthen one’s U-M spirit, connect with colleagues, and contribute directly to a collective effort that improves lives in our community.”

Faculty and staff can participate through the secure ePledge system in Wolverine Access by clicking the “Give Now” link on the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s U-M page at uofm.uwsem.stratuslive.com. U-M retirees can contribute via a separate link at UnitedWaySEM.org/UMRetirees.

“The University of Michigan United Way campaign is more than just a fundraiser,” Kolb said. “It’s a community commitment by our staff and faculty to ensure our region is a better place for all.”

The campaign runs through Dec. 31. For more information or to volunteer as a campaign representative, contact the Office of Government Relations at 734-763-5554 or uwquestions@umich.edu.
