Ulsoy appointed to U.S. Army board

Department of Mechanical Engineering professor Galip Ulsoy has been named a member of the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Ground Systems Industrial Enterprise board of directors. The GSIE is a new organization formed to operate the U.S. Army’s industrial base in ground vehicles more like a business enterprise.

The board will have its first meeting in late October in Washington, D.C. In addition, Ulsoy has just completed a term on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Woxencentrum Manufacturing Research Center in Sweden.

Emeritus professor named to NSF post

Robert Kuczkowski, emeritus professor of chemistry, has been appointed as program officer, special projects and education, chemistry division, at the National Science Foundation in Arlington, Va.
