The U-M–Flint underwater robotic device (UMFURD) takes a spin in a swimming pool during a recent demonstration. UMFURD was designed to test waterways for temperature, pH levels and turbidity. Raj Pandian, assistant professor of engineering sciences at U-M–Flint; Keith Dery, a physics major and research assistant at the University; and Kazu Hashimoto, a graduate student at Ritsumeiken University in Japan assist with the demonstration.
