Top of the Hill
Estimated reading time: 1 minutes
Work continues on Hill Auditorium, now in the sixth month of a projected 18-month renovation. Seating has been removed from the main floor, mezzanine and balcony, and will be replaced with new seats. The sound and projection booth has been moved to the balcony, new audio and visual systems will be installed, and most of the building’s plumbing, heating, ventilation and electrical systems will be replaced. The transformation of Hill’s lower level, formerly reserved for storage, will include a lobby, concession area, restrooms and space for catered events. The 85-year-old auditorium is slated to re-open in Nov. 2003. (Photo by Marcia Ledford, U-M Photo Services)
