The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) board of directors has selected Gordon Amidon, the Charles R. Walgreen Jr. Professor of Pharmacy and professor of pharmaceutical sciences, recipient of the 2004 AACP Volwiler Research Achievement Award. The association’s premier research award has been given since 1977 to recognize outstanding research conducted by a pharmaceutical scientist/educator, based on research productivity and exceptional sustained service to the pharmaceutical sciences as a whole. Amidon is the 28th recipient of the award.Paula Allen-Meares, dean and Norma Radin Collegiate Professor of Social Work, has been selected as a recipient of the University at Buffalo Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. The awards are given in recognition of exceptional career accomplishments, community or University service, or research and scholarly activity. They represent achievement in a variety of areas—the arts, sciences, professions and community service.U-M-Dearborn’s Commission for Women has named Vera Mical—student services assistant in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters’ Women on the Move program—winner of the 26th annual Susan B. Anthony Award. The award recognizes campus staff, faculty and students who have made a significant contribution to gender equality. Mical assists the Women on the Move program by organizing workshops, coordinating a mentor program with volunteers from the American Association of University Women and students in the Women in Learning and Leadership program, and assisting students in obtaining scholarships.
