College of Engineering displays research that impacts state
|
Faculty and graduate students from the College of Engineering exhibited 14 major research projects March 25 at the state Capitol in Lansing, including the six-legged RHex robot shown here walking toward Rep. Chris Kolb (D-Ann Arbor). RHex can walk, run, leap over obstacles and climb stairs, and is able to navigate broken terrain and multiple obstacles. Various technologies that improve the quality of life and economic vitality of state residents were on display, including: innovative manufacturing research critical to manufacturing competitiveness; nanodevices that can enter cells, distinguishing between cancerous and healthy ones to deliver drugs; biomedical imaging that painlessly peers into the human body; intelligent technology that supports people with memory decline; and cars and trucks of the future that dramatically reduce fuel consumption.
