Appointment

Tom Brooks, assistant director in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, recently was appointed to serve on Special Olympics Michigan’s board of directors. As a member of the board, Brooks’ role is to take an active part in the organization’s direction.

Award

John Piette, associate professor of internal medicine, has been awarded a nearly $300,000 grant by the American Diabetes Association to study problems due to medication costs among people with diabetes. Piette says the study will include 800 diabetes patients living in the Flint area.
