The exhibit “Detroit and Rome: Building on the Past” at the U-M Detroit Center in the Orchestra Place building points out similarities between modern Detroit and ancient Rome with archival and recent photos of buildings in each city that have been adapted to new uses, such as the Pantheon in Rome, which now houses a Roman Catholic church, and Detroit’s 1903 Temple Beth-El, now the Bonstelle Theatre.
