The honorees, from left, ascending to descending: Jennifer Erin Gates, Jessaca Bennett Leinaweaver, José Goes Vasconcelos Neto, Mark David Hammig, Angel Luis Harris, Pablo Nepomnaschy, José Costa and Tara Zahra. Each student received a $1,000 honorarium in recognition of exceptional scholarly work and completion of their doctoral degree in 2005. The annual competition is co-sponsored by UMI Dissertation Publishing/ProQuest Information and Learning, and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies.
