Super Bowl XL host to highlight event planners retreat
Susan Sherer, executive director of the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee, will be the keynote speaker at the 2006 University Event Planners (UEP) educational retreat, “True Confessions: Sharing the Secrets of Successful Event Planning,” June 9 at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth.
The event, which is open to all U-M event planners, anyone interested in event planning, and local hospitality providers, will run 8-4:30 p.m. and feature round table discussions and breakout sessions on project management, food and beverage planning, event marketing, budgeting, site logistics and executive etiquette. There also will be exhibits of University vendors and services targeting event planning.
The $40 registration fee is due by June 2 and can be processed at www.umich.edu/~uep/retreat.
The mission of UEP is to provide a forum for information sharing and networking; to promote both professionalism of the membership and recognition within the University community; and to develop and strengthen relations between the University and the community at large.
Anyone involved with the hospitality industry and those who plan meetings and events of all sizes—from 2 people to 100,000—are welcome. Membership information is available at www.umich.edu/~uep.
Cancer survivors to Get Movin’ at celebration
