Conducting the U-M band at halftime of the Wolverines’ Nov. 4 game against Ball State University is actor Patrick Stewart. Known by many as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in television’s “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” Stewart led the Michigan Marching Band in a rendition of the popular television show theme and “The Victors.” As an honorary associate artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), Stewart performed with the troupe during its recent residency at the University, playing Antony in “Antony and Cleopatra” and Prospero in “The Tempest.” The company’s final performance was Nov. 12. The plays, performed exclusively at U-M during the three-week residency, were part of the RSC’s Complete Works Festival, which began in April. (Photo by Martin Vloet, U-M Photo Services)
