Visiting Nov. 7 with patient Lindsey Stewart of Alden, Mich., at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital are Detroit Lions offensive linemen Jeff Backus (left) and Barry Stokes. Stokes spent about 20 minutes making beaded necklaces with Lindsey in the 5 Mott play room. About a dozen players from the team, along with Roary, the team mascot, made the trip, signing autographs and taking photos with patients and their families. Backus, a former Wolverine who was drafted by the Lions in the first round in 2001, coordinated the visit. He and his wife, Regan, recently donated $150,000 to Mott. In addition, he provides Lions tickets to Mott for each home game through the team’s Caring Athletes Ticket Service for Kids (CATS) program. (Photo by Dawn Whitford)
