Filmic Productions wins Michigan Association of Broadcaster Award
Student filmmakers from U-M swept the college public service announcement category in the 2012 Michigan College Broadcast Awards.
Filmic Productions — created and run by students — took home first, second and an honorable mention for a series of public service announcements developed for the university’s Expect Respect campaign.
A public service announcement is a message of general public interest not more than 60 seconds in length.
These awards recognize the student-led efforts of the film production team including Christina Bender, Josh Buoy, Steven Coffey, Chris Duncan, Stephanie Hamel, Rodney Hyduk, Emily Lyon and Joe Kasper.
First Place: “Wolv-pack,” a message developed featuring student athletes promoting the campus ethos of respecting others.
Second Place: “Huddle-up,” an anti-bullying, homophobia prevention message promoting the mission of the Spectrum Center, which marked its 40th anniversary last year.
Honorable mention: “Connections,” promotes the mission of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center by showcasing the elements of healthy relationships.
The public service announcements are posted on the Filmic Productions website: filmicproductions.com.
The awards will be presented on March 14 at the Lansing Center.
