Street work to affect traffic at two campus locations this week

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

Utility work will close a section of South State Street and two lanes in a section of Fuller Street on campus this week.

South State Street closure and detour

Beginning Monday and lasting until May 20, South State Street between South University Avenue and Monroe Street will be closed to all through vehicle traffic for utility installation at the intersection of South State and East Madison streets.

Regular vehicle traffic will be detoured via Monroe Street, Tappan Avenue, and South University. U-M North and South Commuter buses and Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority’s Route 6 and Route 36 buses will also follow detour routes with temporary relocated bus stops.

More information can be found at the Parking & Transportation Services and at the AAATA websites. Sidewalks will not be affected by the lane closures, and pedestrians will be able to move through this area normally.

Fuller Street lane closure

Beginning Monday and lasting through Thursday, the westbound and center turn lane of Fuller Street just west of Glen Avenue will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for utility work associated with the School of Nursing Building construction.

Two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Outside of daytime work hours all three lanes of Fuller Street will be restored for normal traffic flow.
