Advisory committee named for Public Health dean search

The search process has started for the next dean of the School of Public Health.

Former Dean F. DuBois Bowman stepped down June 16 to become president of Morehouse College. Lynda Lisabeth, a distinguished scholar and educator with years of experience as a faculty member, administrator and researcher, was selected to serve as interim dean.

Provost Laurie McCauley has announced the appointment of the U-M advisory committee that will assist in the search. The committee met Aug. 26 to receive its official charge. Assisting the committee is executive search firm Isaacson, Miller, represented by firm Partners Stephanie Fidel and Randi Herrick.

The search advisory committee includes representatives from faculty, staff and students of the school and other members of the university community:

  • Aubree Gordon (chair), professor of epidemiology and professor of global public health, School of Public Health
  • Kate Bauer, associate professor of nutritional sciences, School of Public Health
  • Sabrenda Braceful, undergraduate student, health management and policy program assistant, School of Public Health
  • Rachel Casanova, director of student affairs, School of Public Health
  • Justin Colacino, associate professor of environmental health sciences, associate professor of nutritional sciences, School of Public Health; and associate professor of environment, program in the environment, LSA and School for Environment and Sustainability
  • Darrell Hudson, James S. Jackson Collegiate Professor of Health Behavior and Health Equity, chair, Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity and professor of health behavior and health equity, School of Public Health
  • Kelley Kidwell, professor of biostatistics, interim associate dean for faculty affairs, School of Public Health
  • Preeti Malani, clinical professor of internal medicine, Medical School; and adjunct clinical professor, School of Public Health
  • Leah C. Neubauer, clinical professor, Department of Health Behavior and health equity senior director, integrated education and accreditation, School of Public Health
